ClimeFi today announced the launch of a new dual-track Request for Proposals (RFP) on behalf of Adyen, the global financial technology platform. The process will allocate Adyen’s 2025 climate budget across two potential channels: durable carbon removal purchases and innovation grants.
Submissions are now open and will be accepted until 21st December 2025 for CDR purchases and until 13th January 2026 for grants.
Since 2022, Adyen has partnered with ClimeFi to build, monitor, and manage a diversified multi-year portfolio of durable carbon removals, following a contribution-based approach. Each annual cycle adds new long-term credit streams across several pathways, strengthening the wider programme that ClimeFi runs on Adyen’s behalf.
The 2025 RFP invites developers to submit proposals either for multi-year credit purchases or for grant support, with selected projects integrated into Adyen’s broader long-term portfolio and innovation strategy. Each track will be evaluated separately, but suppliers may apply to both. Cross-track synergies are encouraged.
1. Durable carbon removal purchases (portfolio allocation)
Proposals should offer high-integrity, scientifically rigorous removal solutions with permanent CO₂ storage. Adyen is particularly interested in projects able to demonstrate clear progress toward commercial readiness and credible delivery between 2026 and 2030. Pathways are open globally across a wide range of technologies, with the exception of Enhanced Rock Weathering this year given Adyen’s already meaningful exposure in that category.
2. Climate innovation grants (1% Fund)
The 1% Fund, amongst other initiatives, supports efforts that accelerate the scale-up of durable removals - including advancements in measurement, reporting and verification (MRV), early-stage technology development, and enabling infrastructure. Grants are intended to complement Adyen’s purchase commitments by helping unlock bottlenecks further upstream.
Process and timing
ClimeFi will review submissions jointly with Adyen, with final selections for the portfolio allocation expected to be announced in mid-February 2026. Successful applicants will receive either a multi-year purchase allocation (typically between 500 and 4,000 tCO₂) or a grant award, depending on the track.
How to apply
Project developers who meet the criteria are encouraged to submit proposals. For more information and to receive onboarding and submission links (for either credit purchases or grants), please contact rfp@climefi.com.
