ClimeFi announces first SAFc procurement on behalf of corporate client

ClimeFi is pleased to announce that it has successfully completed its first sustainable aviation fuel certificate (SAFc) deliveries, supplying SAFc to a large corporate client.

ClimeFi is pleased to announce that it has successfully completed its first sustainable aviation fuel certificate (SAFc) deliveries, supplying SAFc to a large corporate client.

The volumes were sourced across two parallel supply legs to give the client diversified producer and registry coverage: one tranche produced by Neste and issued through the CADO SAF registry and a second tranche produced by World Energy and issued through the SAFc registry. The certificates will cover the clients’ SAFc reporting needs across multiple years.

This procurement reflects growing demand for SAFc among ClimeFi’s buyer network. The same disciplines ClimeFi applies to carbon removal - sourcing, due diligence, multi-year structuring - extend directly to SAF.

Paolo Piffaretti, CEO and Co-Founder at ClimeFi, said: “This procurement is a direct response to what our buyers are asking for. The skills that we have built in carbon removal transfer naturally to SAFc, and we expect demand for high-integrity environmental assets across multiple asset classes to keep growing going forward.”

What is SAFc?

SAFcs are book-and-claim certificates that represent the environmental attributes of sustainable aviation fuel, decoupled from the physical fuel. This system aims at allowing users of aviation services (business travelers, freight forwarders, etc.) anywhere in the world to claim the carbon reduction benefits of SAF, regardless of where the fuel is physically consumed.

SAFc are tracked through recognised registries, ensuring transparency and preventing double-counting.
